[ It takes Sasuke a while to answer. He doesn't want to dare believe that anything good is going to come of this, but he may as well get it over with. ]
Sakura was waiting for Sasuke at the fountain, just like she said.
The young girl was dressed in a puce-colored dress and some black stockings, a pair of black, lace-up riding boots on her feet and a fuzzy black cardigan. She was with Kin, who was running around Sakura as she played with him, waiting for Sasuke to arrive.
The young girl bent own, ruffling Kin's fur. She was fourteen now, and it was strange, but it did look as if she had grown, even if only just a little.
Kin barked happily and tried to lick Sakura's face. The minute Sasuke came close enough for his sharp ears to hear, he stopped and turned to look in Sasuke's direction perfectly fixated. His master was back to normal.
Kin barked again and took off at a run for Sasuke.
The young ninja paused in his walk. Despite the heavy feeling in his heart the sight of his dog running to meet him made him smile if only a little.
"Kin." He knelt down and pet his dog, who tried his hardest not to lick Sasuke's face and ultimately ended up losing that attempt at self restraint.
Sasuke accepted the dogs affection, but he did eventually straighten and looked down the way to Sakura. She looked fine, as if the fight had never happened at all.
Sakura rose to her feet. She stared over at Sasuke as dog and master were reunited, remaining silent for a bit. It was nice, to watch the two. She was perfectly healed and dressed cute for the day; the party had lasted awhile.
But one important person had not been there.
But how to start this.
"...I saw your post," She began, keeping the topic off of the two of them. "...About D-san and Ichijou-san leaving. I'm sorry...
Sasuke looked down at the space between them. They were so close and yet so far from one another. Had it really only been a few days ago that they were close friends? Was it that easy to break the tie?
The expression on Sasuke's face didn't change, but the aura around him was noticeably darker, at least to someone sensitive to that sort of thing. He shifted a bit, not sure what to say, before finally speaking.
"He slept with me in my room, so I felt safe. It was kind of like having Kero-chan again." Her voice lifted a small bit, trying to put light into their conversation... but even so, it seemed to fall flat. It was idle chatter, attempting to pierce through the real conversation that needed to be had.
'Sasuke... we need to talk.' That had been the text. She had called him here to talk, and yet, still...
Sasuke nodded. If Kin hadn't been his, he might have been tempted to leave Kin with Sakura still. He dropped his hand down to Kin's silky head and pet him a few times.
Talk...right..
Sasuke cleared his throat. What was he supposed to say? They were supposed to talk but...Then again it wasn't as if the elephant in the room wasn't obvious.
"Sakura...I..." Sasuke paused. God what... "I'm sorry."
My dearest Sasuke, First of all, I would like to say that I'm sorry. I am so sorry that I woke up and left you behind. If I could, I would create a place where you, D, and I could all live without fear of any of us disappearing. Sakura-chan can come, too, of course.
It's selfish of me to request, but please don't be sad for too long. Sakura-chan needs to see you at your best, you know.
From when I first met you--when you and I didn't quite get along so well--up until now, you have grown so much as a person. You went from a grumpy, little pin cushion to an upstanding, handsome, and charming young man. I am so proud of you. I could tell that you had something inside of you that was hidden in the darkness. As a vampire, I know darkness very well. But you've become so much brighter! It's very warm to be around you now. It's actually easy for me to imagine your smile and it's the best feeling.
I hope that I took good care of you while I was there. I know I had my moments, but overall, I did try my best! Who knew that I would be good at domestic things? Maybe all of that dormitory work was good training for this. Haha!
In true "mother" fashion, I should say something like "Be sure to keep eating properly with a nice variety! And don't train too much! And get enough sleep or you'll continue to be short!" Haha! Did that sound motherly enough?
Now, I want to thank you. You completed everything that I could ever want, Sasuke. You gave me someone that I can nurture, guide, and care for. Even if it could be tough, I enjoyed every moment of it. I loved watching you grow mentally and physically and fall in love. You were even able to nurture and care for me when I needed it most. As a family, we all truly leaned on each other and held each other up when things got shaky.
I know I could be silly and tease you and even annoy you at times, but I knew you love me regardless.
And I love you, Sasuke.
Continue to grow into the wonderful man that I know you can become and I hope that maybe you can take some of this love home with you when you finally wake up yourself.
Love, Your "mother" Takuma.
P.S. Hopefully I'll fall asleep in time for the wedding!♥♥
The look on Sasuke's face shifts from amused to sad throughout the reading. A light flush is on his face at the end. Wedding? It was far too soon to think about anything like that, but the fact that he and Sakura are closer than they have been is a good thing. He saves the message intent on keeping it as long as he can.
Morning? [ There was humor in her voice; she was standing in her room at Serenity's house, looking around at the boxes she had started packing. ] If I know Uchiha Sasuke, morning passed hours ago!

He didn't know what to say. He looked away his fist clenched slightly at his side.
Kin whined and licked at Sasuke's hand comfortingly.
"No, I'm staying with my brother and Kamui for now."
He couldn't stay there. Not right now.

Sakura lapsed into silence. She was unsure of what to say to him. So much had been said during that fight...
Her Star Key rattled against her chest. Its bright pink-and-gold color stood out prominently against the black-and-purple she wore.

Sakura, good morning. What's up?

[ Sasuke thought about that. Actually she had a point... ]
I lost track of time.
[ There was a rustling sound, similar to leaves in a high wind. ]
[Call]
[Call]
[ Probably a good thing Sakura hadn't sent a video call. He was currently sitting on top of a rather tall tree, looking out past the perimeter. ]

[Call]
[ Come on Sakura as if Sasuke wouldn't drop everything for you. ]
I can talk.
[Call]
Are you busy, next weekend?
[Call]
[ Thankfully. Sasuke was tired of not having enough time to spend with Sakura, but the patrols needed to happen if he wanted to keep Sakura safe. ]
Why? Did you want to do something?
[ Not that there was much to do with Somarium turned topsy turvy. ]
